TOWN OF WEIN, WI (WSAU-WAOW)  — The Marathon County Sheriff's Department investigated what was described as "suspicious activity" at a property near Edgar. They sounded the all-clear about two hours later, and said that initial reports were unfounded.

Law enforcement responded to a residence on Hillsdale Drive in the Town of Wien. They say initial information they received warranted a heavy police presence. They're not releasing any more information.

Marathon County’s SWAT team searched the property but found nothing of concern. “We brought in our Bearcat just for precautionary measures based on the initial information that we received,” Capt. William Millhausen told WAOW-TV. “Obviously we utilized it but, like I said, the circumstances were unfounded.”

The scene cleared around 6:30pm.

Captain Millhausen said the situation is still under investigation and that there’s no danger to the public.
