I listen to Hard Drive XL with Lou Brutus pretty much every night. I work late. Lou's a great host, not to mention a freaking legend in the rock radio biz. The other night, he stated that he believes that this band is going to the the next stadium-filler in modern rock.
I'm inclined to agree.
I got into Bring Me the Horizon when they dropped the "Sempiternal" album. It's still one of my favorites to this day. Not a bad song on it.
Having seen the way they had the crowd in the palm of their hands when they played Northern Invasion in 2016 , there is no doubt in my mind that this band, while already huge in their home country, is poised to take over the states any time now.
SONG 1: "Happy Song"
While "Sempiternal" notched some Top 20 U.S. Rock singles, and "Drown" broke them into the Top 10, "Happy Song" is the BMTH song that BLEW UP for this band, hitting #2!
According to lead singer Oli Sykes...
“Happy Song” is a sarcastic open letter to the world about how we use superficial and trivial things to ignore the real problems.
You can feel every bit of that in this song.

SONG 2: "Mantra"
Sure, there's a bit of taking shots at organized religion in this song, but "Mantra" has a bit of a double-meaning according to Sykes.
Starting a relationship—especially a marriage—is like starting a cult, a small two-man cult, because you have to give yourself over completely to this person, you have to trust them, you have to love them unconditionally even if you start thinking ‘This is a bit suspect’ or ‘This is a bit dodgy.’ That’s what a relationship is, it’s exactly the same as a cult so that’s where the thinking behind the song came from.
The recently divorced Sykes is on to something here.
SONG 3: "Can You Feel My Heart"
I tend to get into bands via singles that are sent my way by the record labels that want us to play their stuff. " Shadow Moses " was the first single from "Sempiternal". I dug it right away and wanted more. I fired up the album and this was track one.
Loaded with electronic stuff, a crushing chorus, and a line that absolutely resonated with me.
"I can't drown my demons, they know how to swim"
I'm a sucker for great lyrics, and this band brings them.
