90s at 9 Cease and Desist To The President

Donald Trump played "Livin' On The Edge" at a rally in West Virginia and Aerosmith sent him a cease and desist letter on the grounds it implied their endorsement.

"Livin' On The Edge" was released in 1993 as the lead single off Aeromith's Get A Grip. "Livin' On The Edge" reached #18 on the Hot 100, #19 on the Mainstream Top 40, and #1 on the Mainstream Rock charts. It also won a Grammy for Best Rock Performance By A Duo or Group with Vocal.
The song talks about how the world is a crazy place and people don't want to change. According to the Aerosmith autobiography it was inspired by the 1992 riots that ensued after white police officers were acquitted following the Rodney King beating.
According to Steven Tyler, those three big drum hits that you hear near the end of this song were made with the bass drum he stole from his High School marching band. Tyler was kicked out of the school after he was busted, by an undercover cop posing as a student, for drug possession.
My childhood crush Edward Furlong is in the video...swoon.
In 2018 President Donald Trump played "Livin' On The Edge" at a rally in West Virginia so Aerosmith sent him a cease and desist because they didn't want it to look like they were endorsing him. This was the second time Aerosmith sent Trump a cease and desist. They also sent one while Trump was on the campaign trail in 2015 vying for the presidency and he played "Dream On" at rallies.
